Meet the Team: Welcome Amy Jones, Senior Bureau Analyst
We're delighted to welcome Amy Jones to Greenfields Energy Group as our new Senior Bureau Analyst.
Amy joins us with more than six years' experience in the energy industry, having built her career in energy data, billing and bureau services. Throughout that time, she's developed a reputation for improving processes, solving problems and helping businesses gain greater confidence in their energy data.
As Greenfields continues to grow, Amy's experience will strengthen our Bureau Services team and further enhance the support we provide to clients across the UK.
We caught up with Amy to learn more about her career, why she joined Greenfields and her thoughts on the challenges businesses are facing in today's energy market.
What attracted you to Greenfields Energy?
I've always enjoyed working in the energy sector, so I wanted to continue building my career within the industry. Greenfields' reputation, the opportunity to join an experienced team and the chance to step into a more senior role made it an exciting next step.
I was also impressed by the company's culture and the passion everyone showed throughout the recruitment process.
What does your new role involve?
As a Senior Bureau Analyst, my role is focused on supporting the Bureau team while helping to streamline and improve our processes.
I'll be looking at ways to make our day-to-day operations more efficient while using my experience to support the team in delivering the highest possible level of service to our clients.
What are you most looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to working alongside the team, sharing my experience and learning from those around me.
It's exciting to join a business that's continuing to grow, and I'm keen to play a part in improving processes and delivering the best possible service for our clients.
Can you tell us about your career so far?
After graduating from university, I was keen to begin my career and an opportunity arose through a family friend at a local energy consultancy.
I joined Inspired as a Junior Data Analyst before being promoted to Bureau Analyst just 16 months later. As part of a small team, I managed the energy bureau services for a housing association for more than three years, gaining valuable experience and developing my expertise.
I then joined Boxfish as a Billing Analyst, where I helped establish and develop a new in-house billing team. After almost two and a half years, I felt ready for my next challenge and was delighted to join Greenfields as a Senior Bureau Analyst.
What are some of the biggest challenges businesses are facing when it comes to managing their energy today?
From a bureau perspective, one of the biggest challenges is ensuring businesses have accurate, reliable energy data they can trust.
With changing market conditions, complex billing arrangements and increasing sustainability expectations, organisations need confidence that their energy information is accurate. Effective bureau management helps businesses identify billing issues early, improve reporting and make better-informed decisions about their energy use.
What are some of the biggest misconceptions businesses have about buying energy?
One of the biggest misconceptions is that once you've signed an energy contract, the job is done.
In reality, ongoing energy management is just as important. Regularly reviewing energy consumption, checking bills for accuracy and having reliable data can make a significant difference to both costs and operational efficiency throughout the life of a contract.
In your experience, what makes a great energy strategy?
The best energy strategies are built on good information.
When businesses have accurate data, reliable billing and clear visibility of their energy use, they're in a much stronger position to make informed decisions. That enables them to manage costs more effectively, improve efficiency and work towards their sustainability goals with confidence.
What do you think businesses should expect from a good energy broker?
Businesses should expect an energy broker to be a trusted partner, not simply someone who arranges contracts.
That means providing honest advice, clear communication and ongoing support, while helping clients understand their energy use and costs. The best brokers continue to add value throughout the life of a contract, not just at renewal.
What trends do you think businesses should be keeping an eye on over the next 12 months?
One of the biggest trends is the growing demand for accurate, real-time energy data, driven by both cost pressures and sustainability reporting requirements.
Businesses are also continuing to navigate market volatility, making effective energy management and reporting more important than ever.
What's one thing colleagues will quickly learn about you?
I think people will quickly discover that I'm very detail-oriented and enjoy understanding how things work.
I naturally look for ways to improve processes and make things more efficient, and I enjoy working with others to turn ideas into practical improvements.
Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time?
Outside of work, life is pretty full!
I enjoy crocheting and gaming as a way to relax and switch off, and I also like to stay active with regular gym sessions and yoga.
Most of my time is spent with my toddler and our many pets, who bring plenty of fun (and a little bit of chaos!) to everyday life.
If you weren't working in the energy industry, what do you think you'd be doing?
I'd probably be doing something that combined my creative side with my love of animals.
My English degree sparked a real interest in writing and creativity, and I've always had a passion for animals. I could see myself doing something linked to those interests, although between my toddler and our pets, I think I already have a pretty busy second job waiting for me at home!
