Why This Matters
BICS has been designed to help eligible energy-intensive manufacturers reduce some of the policy and network costs included within their electricity bills. For qualifying businesses, this could represent a significant reduction in electricity costs.
However, understanding whether your business qualifies isn't always straightforward.
Eligibility is assessed using several criteria, including your manufacturing activities, SIC and HS codes, electricity consumption and supporting operational evidence. Many businesses assume they either qualify or don't qualify without carrying out a detailed review, but the reality is that every manufacturer should be assessed individually.
During the webinar, we also discuss recent Government updates to the scheme, including additional SIC and HS codes that have widened eligibility for some manufacturers, along with important changes to the application timeline.
Our initial reviews have shown that 43% of existing manufacturing clients we've assessed may be eligible for support through BICS, demonstrating just how important it is to understand whether your business could benefit.
With the application window opening on 1 October 2026 and closing on 30 November 2026, early preparation will be key. Gathering the right information and understanding the application requirements now can help avoid unnecessary delays later.
